Happy, healthy, and joyous New Year to all of you Boxwood fans.

It has been a pleasure showcasing our elegant Boxwood blends to the marketplace this past year and I am looking forward to what is shaping up to be a spectacular 2017. I have met many retailers and restaurant owners who are just as appreciative and supportive of our wines as you are, as a result we have managed to introduce more Boxwood wines into the marketplace!

As I mentioned in our last newsletter, we are now available in Total Wine - all over Northern Virginia. Additionally, many other local retailers/restaurants carry us as well, so be sure to ask for Boxwood when you are out at your favorite local eatery. Check out the vendor list on our website.
Stay up to date on my latest partnered events by visiting our Facebook page Stop by and join me in supporting your local establishment over a glass of your favorite Virginia wine!
We are excited to report that Montgomery County is heating up. Among others, you can find us at Congressional Country Club, Beer and Wine Cellar, Bethesda Beer and WineGrapes and BarleyCapitol Beer and Wine, Beer and Wine Co, Capitol Grill, Clydes Tower Oaks, and Vino Volo. -  to name a few.
Finally, a very heartfelt thank you for your continued support of Boxwood Winery - and as always,
#eatdrinkshoplocal #vawine

Vineyard News

Vintage 2016 is over but your Boxwood winemakers and vineyard crew are still working hard.  Boxwood's 2016 Vintage was historic, we made our first white wine – Sauvignon Blanc! We are very optimistic about this fragrant, full bodied wine and feel that it will be a crowd pleaser.  Our rose wine,

a finely assembled blend of direct to press red grapes and juice from the saignee procedure, should prove to be a summer thirst quencher with its crispy texture and delicate salmon color.

All Boxwood 2016 red wines are safely ageing in barrels. Though, still early in the life of these wines,

it is very likely that 2016 will once again be a stellar year for Boxwood Estates wines.  But this does not mean that the winemakers’ work is over. The winery has been thoroughly cleaned and sanitized awating the next stage, bottling.  The red blends from 2015 are truly exceptional.  We can't wait to share them with you!

Though we are busy in the cellar, the Boxwood vineyard crew is even busier. The crew has repaired posts and wires throughout the vineyard and they have prepared the soil for potential damaging winter weather. The new block of Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Gris is being readied for its vine trellising system. This will be one of the few Sauvignon Gris plantings in North America.  In addition to its vine trellising work, the vineyard crew is sharpening its tools for pruning.  Vineyard pruning is the single most important task that can be done to prepare vines for Vintage 2017.

We invite you to come visit us in our tasting room to see and taste for yourselves.

Meet The Staff

National Harbor Tasting Room

Allyson started with us in August 2013.  She began on a part-time basis as a Prep Cook in National Harbor.  After a couple years of working we found not only was Allyson great in the kitchen but she was also knowledgeable about wine and excellent with customers.  In no time, she was working both the front and the back of the "house." Since she is excecllent with both serving and cooking, she is often pulled into many directions.  She has a can do attitude and a great sense of humor.  She keeps both the staff and customers laughing. Allyson is an essential part of our team and we are grateful to have her.

Allyson moved to the United States from Trinidad 20 years ago.  She is the proud mother of a beautiful, young daugher who is currently attending college in New York. Although they live many miles apart, Allyson keeps in close contact with her and always has great stories to share.

We are thrilled to have Allyson as a part of our team, her flexibility and strong work ethic have been vital to our success.

Wine Pairing Suggestion:

Make your sweetheart something as sweet as they are and pair with something sweeter like a Tawny Port or Madiera.
