Greetings from the production team! The hard work never seems to end in the world of grape growing and wine production – and our vineyard crew is a true testament to the unending dedication needed to craft world class wines.
Throughout December, January, February and March, our crew has been braving the cold, snowy and windy conditions in order to complete our winter pruning in a timely manner. Since we now have more than 26 acres of planted vineyards, the busy harvest season leads right into winter as we prepare for warmer temperatures and look out for signs of “budbreak.”
Since our last newsletter we have completed the bottling of the 2017 vintage of Sauvignon Blanc and Rosé, and we are currently in the process of preparing to bring together the blends for our 2016 red wines.
It was a pleasure to see many familiar faces at the spring Wine Club pick-up party, and I hope everyone has had a chance to try out some of the new releases! I truly value your input every step of the way, and that will continue to be the case as I look ahead at the coming 2018 vintage and beyond.
As always, you can stay up to date with release dates and upcoming events by following us on Facebook and Instagram, or by visiting us in Middleburg, Reston, or National Harbor! Here’s to a great spring full of new beginnings and Boxwood wines!
Happy Spring Everyone! With the release of our delicious Rosé and Sauvignon Blanc, I have been out in the market pretty regularly. I truly love to work with local restaurants and retailers who value Virginia wine - especially Boxwood, of course!
Within the next month or so, you can look forward to enjoying Boxwood Sauvignon Blanc, Reserve, Rosé, and Trellis in various spots around Northern Virginia and DC. Total Wine continues to be a strong supporter of Boxwood, so please remember that you can pick up your favorite in virtually every Total Wine across Virginia and Maryland!
I have planned upcoming wine dinners at two of our favorite local spots:
Consider planning a stay-cation atL’Auberge ProvencaleMay 18-20 for a Boxwood wine weekend! Our wines will be featured alongside their food in elegant pairings. I’ll be at the Friday happy hour to kick off the event.
Come and join me and the team atAshby InnAugust 19. Look to join us around 5:30 for the reception, and a 5 course meal surrounded by the history and charm of the Ashby Inn. It’s another great opportunity to book a weekend getaway in beautiful Virginia Wine Country.
I will continue to keep you posted on Facebook where you can enjoy our wine about town. I'm thrilled to report that there are many new places in the works. Cheers!
Thank you to all members who attended our March Spring Social event! We celebrated the release of your Spring 2018 allotment with many activities. Virginia ham biscuits, cheese and chocolates were paired with the newly released 2017 Sauvignon Blanc and 2017 Rosé. Winemaker and Vineyard Manager Tyler Henley led barrel tastings, offering a sneak peek into the 2016 red blends. We had an amazing turnout, with over 170 members who joined us! It was wonderful hearing all the positive feedback from members and their guests.
If you were unable to join us for the Spring Social last month, don’t forget your Spring 2018 package is now available for pick up! Stop by the winery Friday-Sunday 11am-6pm to receive your allotment if you haven't done so already. Packages are also available for pick up at the Reston and National Harbor Tasting Rooms, by prior arrangement. If you would like to arrange to pick up at a Tasting Room location, please email email@example.com.
Keep an eye out for Wine Club emails with information regarding your upcoming quarterly events!
If you are hosting a future event and are still searching for the perfect venue, be sure to take our different rental options into consideration! Your group can opt to take over the Chai (tank room) for the day or have the entire winery to yourselves for up to four hours. We have a trusted list of caterers available for your convenience, but you are welcome to introduce us to a new crew as well!
